Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 will take place in Lemesos, Cyprus, at the Spyros Kyprianou Arena on 22nd November. The show will be transmitted live all around Europe at 20:15 Central European time (Cyprus time 21:15). Cyprus viewers can watch the show live on PIK 1.

It was Cyprus’ pleasure to welcome the EBU Steering Group and the Heads of Delegation, in meetings which took place on Wednesday 4th- Friday 6th in Lemesos. The CyBC team behind this year’s Junior Eurovision outlined their plans for the show to representatives from this years participating countries and made sure that everyone had ‘Fun in the Sun’. Representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Malta, The Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and the Ukraine, were introduced to the Junior Eurovision’s official hotel, The Atlantica Miramare Beach Hotel in Lemesos. Bosnia & Herzegovina and FYROM were unable to attend the meeting for this year’s show which promises to be the best yet. The group was taken on a tour of the Spyros Kyprianou Arena where 6000 people will be able to watch the show live. You will be able to buy your ticket for the show over the internet from mid-July. More details to be announced soon. It was not all work for our guests. They were introduced to Cyprus’ wonderful food and drink. The group were treated to a night out in Lemesos, courtesy of The Cyprus Tourism Organisation. They also got to experience village life and the warm hospitality of the people of Kalo Chorio village in Larnaca. They tasted Commanderia at the local winery, sampled meze and danced late into the night. A good time was had by all. An announcement was also made about who will be the host broadcaster of Junior Eurovision 2009. Unlike the big Eurovision show, you do not have to win the contest to host the show. And the winner was…. The National Television Company of the Ukraine. Kyiv here we come. The next Steering Group will take place in Lemesos, October 12th-13th October. This is when all the countries will bring their winning songs for CyBC to make the final compilation.
