Greece makes it through to the Final but will Cyprus?
Giorgos Alkaios & Friends get to the Grand Final with Opa! Now the First Semi Final is over, the attention turns to the Second Semi-Final on Thursday.
So will Cyprus follow Greece and get through to the Final for the first time in six years? The word from Oslo is that things this year are ‘tough’. The songs in the second semi-final are stronger than those in the first semi. There is no doubt that Cyprus’ song is good and should make the final. The problem is lack of neighbours!
It could be that the new voting system may give Cyprus enough points to get through. Professional juries in all respective countries make up 50% of the vote which will be merged with the televoting results that also makes up 50%.
Could this be Cyprus’ ticket to the Final? We certainly hope so.
Good luck to Jon Lilygreen and the Islanders, Jon Gregory, Sylvia Strand, Katherine Squire , Sean Watts and Charalambos Kallonas. We are proud of you no matter what the result. And thanks to Nasos Lambrianides and Melis Konstantinou for writing such a wonderful song.
Here are the 10 qualifying countries from the First Semi-Final.
- Bosnia & Herzegovina
- Moldova
- Russia
- Greece
- Portugal
- Belarus
- Serbia
- Belgium
- Albania
- Iceland
